DogsBite logo   Over 150 dog breeds populate the US. Studies show that two breeds account for nearly 70% of bites that end in death and serious injury. We must regulate these breeds or risk the safety of our families and pets.

Pit Bull Chews off Toes as Paralyzed Owner Sleeps

Owner Loses Toes to Dog While Sleeping
Lexington, KY - In a case that brings back Jameille Jennings, a paralyzed child whose foot was gnawed off by a pit bull puppy, a paralyzed man was rushed to the hospital after he woke to find his dog had gnawed off parts of his toes. Terry Smith awoke to find that his pit bull had "chewed off" four toes. He was taken to the hospital.

Tim Cantrell, who is staying at Smith's home, said he saw the blood on his friend's bed that morning. He realized upon a closer look that Terry's toes were no longer on his feet. Smith has been paralyzed from the waist down for several years; a nurse checks on him once a day. Sadly, no full digits were recovered. China ate Smith's toes down to the joint.

Bizarre...Didn't some pit-mama recently go to jail for letting her dog eat the foot off her paralyzed son?

Another accident waiting to happen.
How can someone who can barely take care of themselves be responsible for a dog as powerful as a pit bull? Dogs in general have needs. These dogs' needs are on steroids.
