Pit Bull-Mix Attacks Toddler and Grandmother
Attacking Dog Bit a Man Last Year
San Jose, CA - The pit bull mix that savaged the face of a 20-month-old girl and attacked her grandmother Sunday night had been involved in another attack more than a year before, authorities revealed Monday - prompting animal control officers at the time to warn that the dog could be considered dangerous.
The previous attack involved 41-year-old man whose arm was bitten. The dog's owner was identified as Lourdes Martinez, was required only to license the dog - Tazz, an un-neutered, 70-pound, 4-year-old boxer/pit bull - to avoid any penalties.
Sunday about 7:30 p.m., Elizabeth Cinco, 48, Martinez's sister, came in carrying 20 month old granddaughter, Anna. When the door opened, Martinez told officials, Tazz growled protectively. Cinco screamed and the dog jumped up and bit her. Cinco attempted to get the child out of harm's way but the dog bit the child too.
The pit bull mix ripped away flesh from Anna's lip to her jawline, exposing her skeletal structure. Cinco suffered injuries to her ears, face and legs as she tried to separate the dog from her granddaughter. The dog has since been euthanized.Labels: Grandparents, toddler attack
