DogsBite logo   Over 150 dog breeds populate the US. Studies show that two breeds account for nearly 70% of bites that end in death and serious injury. We must regulate these breeds or risk the safety of our families and pets.

Report confirms Caldwell died from dog mauling

Report Confirms Caldwell Died from Dog Mauling
A preliminary coroner’s report confirms that Kelly Caldwell died of the injuries she suffered during the Christmas evening pit bull attack in Yermo. So far no charges have been filed in Caldwell’s death as detectives at the Barstow sheriff’s station continue to investigate.

Detective Hart is waiting for autopsy reports and DNA results from the two dogs shot by deputies at the scene. One dog was shot when it threatened a paramedic working on Caldwell at the scene. Another one was shot the following day when it became aggressive toward an animal control worker. Two other dogs have been taken as evidence in the case. Once the investigation is completed, Hart said a report will be sent to the District Attorney’s office where a decision whether to press charges will be made.
