Cops Shoot, Kill Pit Bull in Roger's ParkChicago, IL - A police officer fatally shot a dog after it charged at police who were trying to control it early Friday in the Far North Side's Rogers Park neighborhood. No human injuries were reported.
Police were responding to multiple reports of a vicious animal on the loose near the intersection of Columbia Avenue and Sheridan Road when confronted by a pit bull, according to Rogers Park District police Capt. Al Nagode.
The dog charged at police and one officer -- fearing for his safety -- fatally shot the dog. Police are still unsure who owned the dog. The animal will be turned over to the city’s Animal Care and Control, who will conduct an investigation.
