This comes as no surprise. The way pro-pit bull advocates operate is to distribute information online as quickly as possible so that a flood of email and phone calls can reach a targeted destination. 90% percent of the time (or more), this flood stems from out-of-state, and even out-of-country residents.

The Madisonville ordinance regulates the keeping of pit bulls and other vicious dogs in the city. Laura Dapkus of the Lone Star State Pit Bull Club thinks the ordinance should be challenged in court and that existing laws such as leash and licensing should be enforced. Ms. Dapkus might want to review the dismal situation in Lubbock, a city that is trying to enforce leash laws in the midst of a pit bull attack epidemic.

The ordinance approved last week states, “the Madisonville Mayor and City Council believe it is necessary to prohibit pit bulls, subject to certain exceptions, within the City” leaving the council a slight loophole.
During the recent council meeting, however, the city attorney stated, “Basically, this ordinance tries to do away with pit bulls inside the city.”
