Pit bull owner charged with animal cruelty
Pit Bull Owner Charged with Animal CrueltyHamilton, OH - A Hamilton woman was arrested after the Butler County Dog Warden found two starving pit bulls and one dead pit bull inside her home in the 100 block of Pershing Avenue Friday. Denise Colon was charged with animal cruelty, failure to obtain liability insurance for pit bulls and failing to purchase dog licenses.
The arrest was the latest in a string of animal cruelty cases in Butler County that have outraged Humane Society officials. Last November, a beagle named Lucky was found injured after he was discovered chained up too long at a Lemon Township home. A few months before that, the owner of a dog named China was accused of allowing the dog's chain collar to become embedded in her neck. Both owners were charged with animal cruelty.
The Humane Society hopes to place the two surviving pit bulls into adoptive homes. Anyone who would like to adopt them should contact the Humane Society at 513-867-5005.
