Pit Bull Attacks Same Friend Two Different TimesPentaluma, CA - Yesterday, Natasha Haltom, 25, pleaded guilty in connection with her pit bull's attack on a neighbor that occurred in 2006. She was charged with allowing a vicious dog at large and possession of a controlled substance for sale in an unrelated matter.
Petaluma Animal Services said Haltom's 5-year-old pit bull bit Isabel Pollium on her right arm while she was visiting Haltom's Graylawn Avenue home on May 17, 2006. A year prior, the dog had been declared dangerous after it bit Pollium in the leg at Haltom's house in December 2005.
You heard us right: the dog bit the same friend a year prior.
After the first attack, Pollium, 59, did not press charges. But, because the dog was declared dangerous, Haltom was ordered not to walk the dog without using a leash or muzzle and to confine it to her property at all other times.
When Pollium visited Haltom's home again, on May 17, 2006, she was attacked when a cell phone rang and she called out to Haltom, according to Petaluma Animal Services. Haltom pulled her dog "Dozer" off Pollium, who then retreated to a bathroom. Dozer, however, was not finished with Pollium.
The dog then crashed through the bathroom door and bit Pollium again, senior animal control officer Jeff Charter said. Talk about high prey drive!
Under a plea agreement, Haltom will receive concurrent sentences for the two offenses and other charges related to both cases will be dismissed. She will be sentenced on both felony charges May 27, 2008.
