Lubbock, TX - Elderly Man Attacked by Dog
Dog Attacks Elderly ManLubbock (Lubbexico), TX - Dog attacks in Lubbock have reached epidemic proportions. Loose dogs -- mainly pit bulls and pit bull-mixes -- are attacking livestock, pets and human beings at a rate that far outpaces other communities.
Just yesterday, a vicious attack to an 89-year-old Lubbock man occurred. EMS took the victim, Henry Clark Todd to Covenant Medical Center, while Lubbock Animal Control searched for the dogs that attacked him.
Family members say Todd was on his way inside his home when three dogs approached him. After one dog attacked him, Todd picked up a water hose, trying to defend himself, but one dog severely injured his arm before the pack ran off.
"He sustained some pretty serious injuries to his right arm," Animal Services Director Kevin Overstreet said.
A neighbor, David Chirillo said, "It's not uncommon for me to be out walking around in the front yard and see stray dogs or in the alley behind my house when I'm throwing away trash, so it's kind of uncomfortable." Chirillo thinks strays are becoming a problem.
But does he understand that this degree of a stray dog problem exists mainly in third world countries?
