Owners Put Down Pit bull After it Attacks Them
Pit Bull Suddenly Attacks OwnerLake Jackson, TX - A pit bull was euthanized and the two owners were treated at a local hospital after the dog attacked them in their Lake Jackson home. Assistant Chief Jim Dunlap said, "He was trying to put his pit bull inside his kennel and he turned around and attacked him. When the woman tried to help contain the dog, the dog bit her too."
Animal Control officers said that the male dog likely attacked because a female pit bull at the house was in heat --
backyard breeders? Both owners suffered puncture wounds and gashes; both were treated at Brazosport Regional Health System and later released.
After the attack, the owners called police to seize their dog, Dunlap said. "They had it locked in the bathroom and wanted us to come get it."
Lake Jackson Animal Control Officer Cathy Kahn said the dog was taken to the Southern Brazoria County Animal Shelter after the owners signed it over. There it was euthanized and tested for rabies. She mentioned, "We had to dart the dog in the house" to get it out safely.
