"Elsasser was outraged to hear the pit bull may have been involved in an earlier incident, especially considering two nearby schools."

Hmmm...Calgary is frequently held up as the utopian animal control model by the Pit Nutters since it doesn't restrict Pit Bull ownership.

Number 50 shot and killed, another 20 or so shot that survived. Almost everyday, police fire their weapon, in a pit bull attack.

That sucking sound is local law enforcement dollars going down the Lion Tamer Syndrome drain.

I ran the two links you listed and I could not get them to come up. Would you provide more info? I would appreciate it. I'm trying to keep up.

DogsBite.org publishes police reports each Thursday -- this is a ganged report. From time to time, we may post and individual police shooting story, as in the case here.

Thanks for the help. I can see why they shoot, that is one the places that had a death last year.
On May 25th a 3-year-old boy, Dandre Fisher was mauled by two pit bulls at Hunter Army Airfield, Savannah Georgia, he died three days later. It must have been a terrible three days for this childs family. All so someone could play "Lion Tamer".
People let their dogs kill but get all teary eyed when their dogs get the loosing end of things.
When you see or hear about an incident it doesn't seem so bad but when you hear all the storys together, then you see how bad it really is.
I never miss a chance to tell some of the storys I see on this sight.
