For the rest of my life, I will not forget the image of this young boy flying through the air like an angel. His surge into grace blows me backward, like a crumbled brown bag. The beautiful image of Tanner Joshua Monk is something I have been blessed to even look upon.

If that were my son, dying alone, terrified, the way this boy did....my husband would be in a jail cell, and the dog OWNER would have gone to Glory.

People need to remember...this child is dead, because society protects and subsidizes the criminals and dogfighters who own and breed these lethal weapons. It's that simple. We have decided, as a society, that it is more important for losers to maintain their right to own and breed these dogs, than it is to keep children safe. The loss of a few kids has been deemed a small price to pay to be able to continue to own and breed pit bulls.

I have already read the news blogs on this story, and the pit bull mafia has already chimed in, blaming the parents for not "watching" the child...apparently, its the child's fault for walking a few yards down the street to go play at a friends house. There is no compassion whatsoever from these people.

It' time to stop complaining about this and take action. These animals need to be regulated....now.

I am so sorry for the loss of this young boy. I have a boy who is six years old and hate that a mother and father have lost their son. Pit bulls are a man made problem and they need to be eliminated. don b

All the pit bulls in the world aren't worth this one child, much less all the children - all the grandmothers, and everybody in between that's been killed by pit bulls.

Tanner was beautiful, absolutely beautiful! (I type with tears in my eyes.) My heart is broken for Tanner's family. I feel so helpless. What can we do to stop these senseless killings? How could anyone want to own these vicious dogs? I've never felt more hopeless than I do at this moment. And so sad for the angel flying through the air. I'll pray again for Tanner's family to heal with time, and for the murderers to be prosecuted to the maximum extent of the law (which is far too light).

Oh (tears streaming)!! I am so sorry!!! I am an animal advocate and lover to the end, but no ANIMAL is worth this boy's life. I pray that the Lord keeps and protects Tanner's family after this horrible tragedy. No words can justify or rationalize this. Someone wanted a mean dog - and they got it. I hope it was worth it to that person. This was a child walking home! I am so sick thinking about this. I can't STAND dog owners like this!!!! AS IF it could be this boy's fault! I would LOVE to hear a pit bull advocate on here - tell us again how they are wonderful and loving "pets" ???? Other dogs bite, that is true, but how many other dogs KILL?
