8-Year Old Hospitalized After Attack
Pit Bull-Rottweiler Mix Inflicts Severe InjuryDekalb County, GA - In the second report of a pit bull-rottweiler mix attack in as many days, we learn about an 8-year old girl that was hospitalized after being mauled by a dog of the same blend. Police say the dog snapped his chain and attacked the young girl. The girl's legs were bitten repeatedly.
Her mother said that her legs were covered in blood when she found her -- the mother spotted the attack from her home on the 3000 block of Patti Parkway. She interceded by bashing the dog on the head with a pipe. The canine retreated and was later captured by the DeKalb County's animal control unit.
The child is currently being treated at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Police did not release the names of the girl or her mother or the dog's owner. Police have charged the dog's owner with failure to properly restrain his animal and for not obtaining proof of rabies vaccination. The dog's owner is scheduled to appear in court on May 23rd.
