DogsBite logo   Over 150 dog breeds populate the US. Studies show that two breeds account for nearly 70% of bites that end in death and serious injury. We must regulate these breeds or risk the safety of our families and pets.

The Natural Survival Instinct of a Pit Bull is "Missing"

Child Attacked by Wild Animals
Albuquerque, NM - A 5-year-old boy is in critical condition after a wild animal grabbed onto him and carried him away as he was walking along a trail. Officials said they don’t even know what kind of animal attacked the boy. They are currently looking at tracks to determine if it was a mountain lion or bear. Ross Morgan, who works for the Department of Game and Fish, said:
"The animal had the kid and was dragging him down the side of the hill. When the father jumped over there, the animal ran off."
Due to selective breeding practices, pit bulls do not "run off." They stick around and continue attacking. Pit bulls have unmatched tenacity -- the ability to continue to fight even when considerable harm is inflicted upon them. They were bred to "finish" a fight and to do so at the cost of death. Thus making pit bulls all the more deadly to people and our pets.

We don't allow wild animals in our neighborhoods, nor should we allow dogs that were designed to keep attacking in the face of baseball bats crashing down on them and gunshots being fired. An ASPCA Shelter Guideline for pit bulls warns that incoming pit bulls that are gunshot victims often appear "clinically normal" because they show no outward signs of distress.

I'll take my chances with bears and lions in the wild vs. a pit bull next door any day.
