Pit Bull Breaks Free from Leash, Attacks Woman
Leash Laws are Futile with Pit BullsOmaha, NE - The number of leashed and chained pit bulls that snap their tether for the specific purpose of "attacking unprovoked," is outrageous. Leashes are absolutely ineffective when a pit bull makes the choice to attack. An Omaha woman is recovering from such an attack right now.
Cynthia Edwards says she heard the dog barking as she was walking to meet a relative for lunch near 22nd and Laird. She says the dog then broke loose from its leash and attacked. "I couldn't move," she said. "The only thing I could feel was the dog sensation gripping my leg and just pulling."
Edwards' says the surprise attack resulted in: "an injury on my thigh and on my buttocks and I have stitches and I got stitches in my forehead." She spent several hours at the hospital. The article does not state if the dog owner was cited. The dog, however, was picked up. It will remain at the Humane Society until a judge decides what will happen next.
