2008 Fatality: Great-Grandmother Killed by Family Dogs
Lorraine May, 74-Years OldTitusville, FL - In a developing story, a 74-year old woman was killed by her dogs. The woman suffered a dislocated shoulder and many bites. Police think May was breaking up a fight between the dogs. The animals, which she had owned since puppies, had a history of fighting with each other, and were reportedly mother-and-son.
The 11-year-old female golden-retriever mix is named Sammy, and the 6-year-old male Australian-shepherd mix is called Seth. The dogs are currently being held in separate cages at Brevard County Animal Services while the investigation continues. Animal Services had received no prior complaints about the dogs.
Autopsy results revealed Friday that May died of multiple "blunt-force trauma" caused by the dogs. A final report will not be available for about 12 weeks. May is described as a quiet lady and a fastidious dog owner who took good care of her pets. "She loved her dogs from ear to ear," said one neighbor. "You could tell the dogs brought her a lot of joy."
