Criminals, Not Cops, Sport Pit BullsPasadena, MD - In a developing story, Anne Arundel County police arrested two men who allegedly posed as police officers and then ordered a pit bull to attack their victims. Police arrested Renardo Williams and Joseph West on Thursday outside Sunset
Elementary School in Pasadena.
Cops don't usually tote pit bulls; there are more reliable breeds for K9 work.
Police said the two men approached four people, identified themselves as officers and showed a gun. Williams then punched two victims and ordered a pit bull to attack them, officials said. A 15-year-old and a 21-year-old victim suffered minor injuries. The other victims were not hurt.
Common police K9 dogs are the Belgium Malinois, German Shepherd and Labrador. A variety of dog breeds participate in firearm, bomb, drug and cadaver detection, apparently even a handful of pit bulls do as well.Related articles:04/16/08:
