Pit Bulls Jump Fence, Attack Woman, 77, Gardening
A Backyard is No Longer SafeColumbus, OH - The owner of three pit bulls could face charges for not properly constraining his dogs after his 77-year old neighbor was bitten by one of them. Franklin County animal control officers report that the attack was vicious and that the woman was badly injured -- the bite left exposed bone. Police officers arrived on scene with weapons drawn.
The woman was gardening when the animals jumped the fence and attacked her. After animal control took all three dogs away, one of the dog owners, showed remorse for the victim, "I don't really care what happens to me or the dogs, (but) I'm responsible," said James Halbirt, "I'm concerned with (the woman). I want to make sure she's OK. She's a great person."
Halbirt said that all three dogs were animals that he rescued.
The other dog owner, a woman who was not named, blabbed on video about how the dogs "had never shown aggression before." As if she had
never heard of a pit bull suddenly attacking. As if her pit bull
might have a different set of genes than every other pit bull. Maybe the facility where the two owners rescued the dogs told them, "Enough love will make the dog's genes disappear."
Unpredictability is a trait that has been selectively bred into pit bulls. This trait cannot be "loved" out of a pit bull.
