Pit Bulls in Pima CountyTucson, AZ - A 20-year-old pit bull owner was injured after she tried to intervene in a fight between three pit bulls. The incident occurred when the woman was walking her two pit bulls on leashes. Another pit bull strayed from a residence and attacked her dogs. According to officials, she tried to get in the middle and was bitten. She was hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries.

The owner of the loose dog was cited, according to Kim Janes, manager of the Pima Animal Care Center. The dog was impounded and the agency will conduct a dangerous dog assessment to determine if the animal if "vicious." If the dog is declared vicious, the usual recipe follows: secure confinement, muzzle when off property, dangerous dog signage and liability insurance.
Pima Animal Care suffered the aftermath of the Patrick Mahlon fighting dog bust back in February. On a single day, May 1st, they euthanized 94 of the dogs seized in the raid. It is reported that only 9 were taken by animal rescue groups.Related articles:07/22/08:
