City notes 202 dog-bite cases early this year
----
DENPASAR: Some 202 dog-bite cases have been reported in Denpasar since the beginning of the year, a city official says. Dewa Made Ngurah, head of the Denpasar Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Agency, said his office had received reports of 138 bite cases in January and 64 cases this month. He said the data indicated higher public awareness of the danger of rabies. "It's staggering there's this many cases of dog bites in Denpasar alone. Fortunately, this also makes it easier for us to vaccinate them and find the dogs responsible for the bites," he said. - JP
