All God’s Creatures Welcome -- Except Pit Bulls
Pit Bulls Booted from BlessingWeymouth, MA - Pilgrim Congregational Church will open its doors to dogs and cats, parrots and parakeets, and any other animal people want to bring to a blessing of the animals this Sunday. There is just one exception: Pit bulls. The church says it's not discrimination; it's the insurance. The church’s insurance policy won’t allow pit bulls through the door due to their bad safety record.
Pilgrim Congregational Church now joins PetSmart's doggy daycare facilities and likely many more "multi-animal" facilities in banning pit bulls. Church member Alana Snyder said, "It’s unfortunate, we didn’t want to have any restrictions." We doubt the church wanted to have any
catastrophes at the blessing either. The church may be unaware that animal aggression is a genetic trait in pit bulls.
