Owner of Omaha Pit Bull Pleads No Contest
Facing 6 Months Jail TimeOmaha, NE - The owner of the pit bull that tore the scalp off a toddler pleaded no contest to harboring a dangerous dog and menacing animal charges. Tina Agerson's pit bull attacked 15-month-old Charlotte Blevins in June. The surgeon who stitched the girl's injury, Dr. Amardip Bhuller, said one-third of her scalp was missing after the attack. Agerson faces six months in jail and a $500 fine for each count.
Update: Pit Bull Plan Has City Council SupportA plan to muzzle all Omaha pit bulls and to require liability insurance for pit bull owners has the support of a majority of council members. Councilmen Dan Welch, Jim Vokal, Franklin Thompson and Garry Gernandt said they support the mayor's ordinances, including the pit bull requirements. Councilman Jim Suttle is still against the muzzle requirement and has offered an amendment to remove that provision.
Let's hope Suttle's amendment
sinks.
