Pit Bull Attacks Seizure Alert, Service Dog in Boston
Fire Extinguisher Stops AttackBoston, MA - At the rate pit bulls are attacking service dogs, trainers might consider developing dogs for the primary task of providing therapy to "pit bull attack survivor" service dogs. A few days ago, a seizure alert dog was attacked by a pit bull in Boston. Alfred Roberts said the pit bull charged and latched onto Vinny's throat. Roberts tried to beat the pit bull off with his cane.
A police officer that was inside a nearby restaurant sprayed the pit bull with Mace, but it did not deter the dog. One of the bystanders used a fire extinguisher to stop the attack (fire extinguishers are also used by some SWAT teams to deter vicious dogs). Vinny underwent surgery at the Wignall Animal Hospital. Roberts' wife, Karen, suffers from seizures. Vinny is trained to sense the seizure before it begins and give his owner warning.
