Texan Will Not Face Charges After Shooting Neighbor's Pit Bull

Shoots to Save Elderly Woman
Denton, TX - William Nolan, 39, was taking out the garbage on Sunday when an aggressive pit bull and two Shar-Peis approached him. Denton police officer, Lt. Lenn Carter, said Nolan struck one dog with a garbage can and ran inside his home to grab a gun. He then chased the dogs with his motorcycle and shot at them when he saw them approaching an elderly woman. He wounded the pit bull, and the two other dogs ran back home.

The pit bull was euthanized Sunday and the Shar-Peis were put down the following day. This appears to "lightning" euthanasia speed. But there was no bite, so the dogs were not required to undergo a 10-day quarantine. The dogs' owner, Luis Blas, 39, had told investigators he had released the dogs, which had been penned up all day, so they could exercise. Had it not been for the fast actions of Nolan, the woman may have suffered a severe attack.

Canton Boy, 11, Attacked by Pit Bull
Canton, OH - An 11-year-old Canton boy was attacked by a pit bull over the weekend. Tanika Hamilton said her son, Tayshawn, was in a "lot of pain" but sleeping Monday. Doctors at Mercy Medical Center, where the boy was treated and released, said to keep him home from fifth grade for at least two days. The boy was injured on the fatty part of his underarm, his left ankle, and his fingers. Tayshawn will be in a cast and on crutches because of the injuries.

Grandmother and Granddaughter Attacked by Pit Bull
Washington County, TN - A woman is recovering this morning after getting injured fighting the family pit bull off her one-year-old grandchild. It happened just south of Cherokee Road in the Hidden Valley Trailer Park. The Sheriff’s Office says the grandmother "got the worst of it." The dog bit her several times, and she suffered more than two-dozen puncture wounds. 
Her one-year old granddaughter escaped with one minor bite. Animal control seized the dog.
