#309: Seneca Police Shoot, Kill Two Pit Bulls

Summary: Officer Andy Caudill was responding to complaints of two "loose and vicious" dogs near downtown Seneca when one attacked him, Chief John Covington said. When officers Robbie Johnson and J.B. Smith arrived at the scene, the two pits attempted to attack them, which prompted the officers to shoot the dogs. Both dogs were eventually found dead.

#310: A Beer, a Pit Bull and a Rifle

Summary: A man walked to the home's front porch with a beer in his hand and a pit bull, a police report said. He was also seen carrying a long rifle or shotgun, the report said. Officers told the man to leave the dog inside the house, but the command was ignored. As the deputies approached, the dog was let loose. The dog was shot to death and the man was taken into custody.

#312: 2 Pit Bulls Shot After Attacking Residents

Summary: It was a scene of chaos and commotion after two pit bulls escaped their yard. After attacking and threatening multiple residents, county police officers eventually had to use Tasers, beanbag rounds and a handgun to subdue the dogs, but not before one resident was bitten on the hand and legs. Summary: Two pit bulls jumped a fence and threatened some school children in Polk county. A deputy arrived and distracted the dogs, then a sheriff's sergeant arrived, and the dogs began threatening her. The sergeant shot twice at the dogs. The shots did not hit the dogs. Animal Control officers were able to get control of the situation and return the dogs to their home so they could jump the fence again.

Summary: The shooting happened after a man called the sheriff's office to report he had been chased by a loose dog. Sheriff Wagner says several witnesses later reported seeing the dog running through downtown Sprague. When the deputy arrived, he tried to contact the dog's owner. But the pit bull charged him, so he shot and killed the dog.

Summary: Officers shot a pit bull after the animal charged them repeatedly and attacked several residents. Officers were called in when residents complained that a pit bull was running loose and charging them. Another man said the pit bull had attacked him when he was out walking his dog. When officers tried to corner the dog, it charged again and officers shot and killed it.

Summary: Two pit bulls escaped a fenced back yard and attacked a jogger and the jogger's golden retriever. Peachtree City Police subsequently shot one of the attacking dogs near the golf course green on the west side of Peachtree Parkway, while the other pit bull died minutes later after being deliberately struck by a patrol car on Highway 54, east of North Peachtree Parkway.

Summary: Responding to a call of someone walking the streets with a sawed-off shotgun, police ended up shooting a pit bull they said was unleashed on the officers by a wanted man. Shannon Ritter, 37, is charged with three counts of aggravated assault and two firearms violations, including felon not able to possess a firearm and possession of a firearm with altered serial number.

#320: Waterloo Police Shoot, Kill Pit Bull

Summary: Waterloo police received a call about two pit bulls fighting. When officers arrived, they found a black dog fighting with a brown dog. When the officers couldn’t get the animals to separate, they fired a Taser at them. The brown dog took off running, while the black dog began acting aggressively toward the officers. That dog was shot and killed.
