Family Rottweilers Attack 18-Month Old Child in Phoenix
UPDATE 10/14/08: In a stunning announcement, the 18-month old boy is reportedly in stable condition after being attacked by two rottweilers. The toddler was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in extremely critical condition but is expected to recover, according to the Phoenix Police Department. The toddler was playing by himself in his grandmother's backyard when the attack occurred.
Sgt. Tommy Thompson said the toddler's parents were helping to remodel the grandmother's house and did not notice the boy had snuck outside. His 13-year-old uncle noticed the dogs attacking the boy and called police. The boy was bitten more than 10 times on his neck and chest losing a large amount of blood. Thompson said it does not appear to be a case of parental neglect.
10/13/08: 2 Dogs Involved in AttackPhoenix, AZ - In a developing story, a 1 and a half-year-old child was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after a dog attack in South Phoenix late Monday afternoon. The boy's 13-year-old uncle said he found the child in the back yard under a trampoline with two of the family's five Rottweilers standing over him.
The uncle said he pushed the dogs away, took the boy indoors and kept the child's airways open until help could arrive. Phoenix police and animal control officers rushed to the scene. The video depicts the owner loading one dog into the animal control truck. Five rottweilers and a toddler -- should anyone be surprised that a disaster ensued?
