Fourth Dog in Jackson, Mississippi Killed by Pit Bulls
Attack and Home InvasionJackson, MS - For the
fourth time in a month pit bulls have reportedly attacked and killed another dog. This most recent incident happened Sunday in a south Jackson neighborhood. Don Bowen said that not only did two pit bulls maul his Jack Russell terrier to death, but even more upsetting was the fact that they ran into his home after the attack. Bowen said the dogs were unfamiliar to him.
Much like an unfortunate attack that occurred in
Wailuku, Hawaii, Bowen had been watching TV that Sunday afternoon when he said he heard terrifying sounds coming from his small dog Jack. "The dog was laying down there with one pit bull on his neck and one on his groin," said Bowen. The 63 year-old took off his sandal and tried in vain to beat the dogs, in hopes they would let go.
A resident told reporters that a man in an SUV pulled into the driveway. The man got the dogs off, but then they "run inside the house." Also inside was Bowen's two month old grandson and Jack, who had limped inside to die. Bowen's wife Vivian said, "All we could think about was get to the baby because the baby was right close where our Jack was laying." Their granddaughter was able to get the baby to safety.
