Pair of Pit Bulls Send Two Women to Hospital in Fabens
Silence on Lillian's LawUPDATE 01/10/09: The 81-year old victim, Victoria Garcia, still remains in critical care. This latest article contains the most detailed account of the double attack so far. Apparently, when the deputies arrived and began assisting Elizabeth Flores, 24, near the store's front door, the dogs began attacking Garcia. Flores thinks that Garcia might have heard her yell for help and walked outside. Before Garcia could be helped, the dogs had inflicted enough damage to send her to ICU.
Officials said that before the attacks, the dogs had dug a hole under a fence and had run away from the home. The owners weren't aware of the dogs' escape until afterward. Animal Services officers issued six Class C misdemeanor citations to the pit bull owners for not complying with state animal regulations. This article does not mention

01/08/09: Two Attacks, Same Pair of Pit BullsEl Paso, TX - A pair of loose pit bulls attacked a 24-year old woman while she was near a supermarket, then 30 minutes later attacked and critically injured an 81-year old woman. Both women were taken to Thomason Hospital. Deputy Jesse Tovar said that loose dogs are "an ongoing problem in the county. They are unrestrained, unconfined and unvaccinated." He left out that pit bulls are also "deadly." An investigation into the attack is apparently ongoing.
"An 81-year-old woman was critically injured and another woman was also hospitalized after separate attacks by a pair of pit bulls Wednesday night in Fabens, an El Paso County sheriff's spokesman said. Sheriff's deputies and animal control officers caught one of the dogs, a female, and were searching for a male after the attacks, which occurred about 30 minutes apart at separate locations. About 7 p.m., the dogs attacked a 24-year-old woman and bit her on the right hand, the left armpit and the left thigh while she was near a supermarket, sheriff's spokes man Deputy Jesse Tovar said. About 7:30 p.m., the 81-year-old woman was bitten multiple times when she was attacked near homes in the 400 block of Cima Street, Tovar said. Both women were taken to Thomason Hospital."
