Pit Bull Owner Hides Dogs After Attacking Senior Citizen
Victim on a WalkVan Buren, AK - It was reported yesterday that an elderly man was rushed to Summit Medical Center after being attacked by a pit bull. Van Buren Police say the attack took place in the morning as 76-year-old Archie Hoback was walking his two small dogs down a city sidewalk. The pit bull charged Hoback, and to protect his dogs, he picked them up in his arms. The pit bull subsequently bit into his arm causing several lacerations that went to the bone.
Hoback may suffer permanent nerve damage and partial loss of his hand from this attack.
Officer Steven Gunter says he went to the house where he believed the dog came from, but the homeowner denied knowledge of the dog. Gunter said, "It was later determined the dog did belong to them and they were hiding the dog inside the residence." As a result, Scott Pulliman, 37, was arrested on charges of obstructing government operations, harboring a vicious dog, allowing a dog to run at large, and for having no city tags or vaccination for the dog.
