This woman is lucky to be alive.

Very lucky, and so is the little boy. As usual, the owner gets little slap on the wrist charges. If they do euthanize the pit, he'll just go out and get another one. These people never learn.

Omaha should have gone straight to an outright ban last year.... At least this perp owner faces jailtime.

Here is an update...they may have to amputate her leg. Watch the video...same old story. The dog has been around kids and babies before and never showed any aggression.

This woman may have sacrificed her LEG to protect this boy -- I repeat her LEG. What comes with losing a leg?

PERMANENT DISABILITY.
PERMANENT DISABILITY.
PERMANENT DISABILITY.
PERMANENT DISABILITY.

This incident did not occur as she served our country in Iraq by a roadside IED. It occurred protecting a child from a neighborhood IED -- a PIT BULL!

Dog breeders are costing us all a huge amount of money and torment when they lobby against regulations for pit bulls.

We are having to pay for the entertainment and personal gain of dog breeders.

And most of them don't even pay taxes!

WHY DO LEGISLATORS LISTEN TO THESE PEOPLE? over innocent, honest citizens

"The owner of the Pit Bull is sorry this ever happened. She tells me the dog is around babies and people everyday and has never once shown aggression. "She just never acted like this before so I feel like something had to provoke my dog to make her do something like this," said the Pit Bull owner, Cachara Stubblefield"

She's been around babies and people everyday?
You mean like 6-8 months?

Something had to provoke her?
You mean like sexual maturity?

The level of pit nutter ignorance is astounding.

The pitbullforum nutters are circling the LOOKS LIKE A PIT MIX TO ME wagon, despite the excellent photo and video provided.

This link doesn't name the owner but says she is devastated by the attack and getting rid of her OTHER pit bull. Lemme guess? The OTHER pit bull is a male.

Seems like 54 is "an acceptable" number to Langan, regardless of the severity of the actual injuries or the potential injuries.

Haynes described the attack to the Omaha World-Herald: “It was like getting a piece of meat (torn off),” she said, “like that movie ‘Jaws.'”

Also: "Haynes' husband, William Haynes, said Stubblefield showed the family after the attack that she had insurance on the dog and said she would do whatever she could to help Joyce Haynes."

I'd really have to see that to believe it.

This dog's owner is claiming to have had insurance...I wonder if this wigglebutt passed the Omaha's taxpayer subsidized GCD qual?

The Omaha City Council and Mayor are directly responsible for future attacks folks. They are giving in to the pressure, misinformation of the Nebraska Humane Society. What is going to happen if one of the "Breed Ambassador" pit bulls, an exception to the muzzle requirement, attacks and injures a citizen. Can the Neb. Humane Society be found responsible, negligent, by a jury in this community? I bet there are several attorneys just waiting for this to happen............

The Nebraska Humane Society should have to maintain insurance and liability for any "breed ambassador" pit bulls they get out of a muzzle.

There is NO REASON to oppose muzzles. Muzzles are another piece of equipment like a leash or collar, that stop mutilation and death when it comes to a pit bull.

A smart pit bull owner (is there one?) would use one automatically to prevent a mountain of trouble.

The owner was cited for not having a muzzle on this wigglebutt...So this dog probably wasn't an ambassador Pit.

The new law forced her to maintain liability insurance. No let's see if the policy was in force and pays off....
