Aggressive behavior in adopted dogs that passed a temperament test (STUDY)

"Our results indicated that there are certain types of aggressive tendencies (territorial, predatory, and intra-specific aggression) that are not reliably exhibited during temperament testing using this particular evaluation process.

These findings suggest that this temperament test fails to identify certain types of aggression. Efforts to protect public heath through temperament testing should take this into account by combining temperament testing results with shelter and/or foster behavioral evaluations..."

For clarification purposes, we know of no breed ban that has required "grandfathered" dogs to pass a temperament test. Grandfathered dogs are typically only required to be registered, sterilized and muzzled when off-property. The fact that the U.S. Marines Corps is requiring "grandfathered" dogs to be temperament tested shows just how serious they are regarding the dogs that fall under this clause.

Furthermore, these dogs will only be allowed for a three-year period. This is yet another distinction of the U.S. Marines Corps pet policy. In addition to requiring the temperament test, the entity has placed a time limit on the grandfathered dogs. After three years, there will be "zero" pit bulls, rottweilers, wolf hybrids or their mixes allowed in privatized housing or on base installations.

As the landlord, the Federal Government wants no part of indemnifying these dogs.

This ban will SAVE LIVES and prevent suffering and disfiguration.

No family serving our country should have to endure the dangers and horrors of fighting dogs, also known as pit bulls.

Pit bulls are NOT family dogs. They belong nowhere near children, adults, or other pets.

In fact, they don't belong in our society.
